The District Conference

This past weekend, we spent our time here at the Rotary District 3350 Conference. The District Conference is being held at the Royal Hills Golf Resort in the Nakhon Nayok Province, about 2-3 hours north of Bangkok. I was excited because there would be good internet access at the hotel (I bought a 1 week pass for 321 Baht, about $10), but there were many reasons to enjoy being here. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. We had dinner at a restaurant overlooking the course Friday night, and then spent some time hanging out at the pool, which had an island in the middle and even some fountains around it.

Saturday we got to see a lot of the people we had already met by visiting several Rotary Clubs in the area. It was very nice Saturday morning being introduced with much applause from the people who knew us. After a day of sessions, last night was a Gala dinner with a theme of Valley of Dreams. We all wore green outfits and had a blast with the live music and entertainment. I took lots of pictures, and will upload some of them to our Flickr feed as soon as I get a chance.

This morning, we had a short 15 minute presentation. We wanted to share a little bit about ourselves for people who haven't met us, as well as show what we've been up to in Thailand. We put together a video scrapbook with photos from the past 3 weeks. Check it out at the link below. The music is from a Thai rock CD I bought in Lopburi, and the lyrics are very appropriate, talking about how it's a small world and we are all in this together.

Next we are headed down to Rayong for a few much needed days off. We'll try to keep posting from there.

Note: You need QuickTime to view the video.

Playing catch up now...Was involved with preparation as well as the actual training for Great Lakes Rotary Presidents-Elect Training Seminar (PETS) in Kalamazoo this past week, but I'm finally back. It's so much fun to see how different District Conferences play out! -Ruby
