Wats/Temples

We have seen many temples and visited a few. Buddhism is integral to the Thai culture and we are learning a little about the key principles. One person said the three key teachings from Buddha is to Be Good, Don't be bad, and Have a happy (pure) heart. At the Wat Muang we saw a beautiful crystal temple made of mirror mosaics and on the grounds statues depicting people breaking the tenets of Buddha and being punished. These scenes were followed with a magnificent Buddha. The largest Buddha in Thailand. The message was explained to us as similar to depicting Hell and Heaven. Also, visited Pra Buddha Bath in Saraburi...temple with the footpint of Buddha, built by one of the Kings a spectacular structure. Also saw many ancient Wats from a boat in Ayutthaya ancient capital of Thailand .

Such gentle and peaceful thinking should be the mantra of all religions.I think I'm going to study up a lot more on Buddhism.

The photos are stunning! Remind everyone to double-click on images to enlarge. The detail and the beauty are so clear. It's almost like being there.... and I might add you all look fantastic and seem to be holding up well, indeed, despite the warm weather! Just think about Linwood, MI where they had ice surges that pushed over the seawalls, into yards and in some cases actually broke through walls of cottages last week. -Ruby

Wow! I love these temple pictures! The gold against the silver is just spectacular. The reflections of the tiny mirrors are amazing.
