Thai traditional village and wedding

What a surprise! Our Saraburi Rotary team took us to a traditional northern Thai village and we were all so pleased to see an engagement/wedding party underway. Perhaps 150 people eating a traditional meal many on bamboo mats outdoors under palm canopies. The bride and groom had us join them in a photo at the beautifully decorated "altar". There were Thai dancers and we got to join in the dancing too. We were treated like honored guests with many photos with all! This is an example of how Rotary is welcomed (Rotary has indeed donated a new washroom to the village. ). The village is along the river and very scenic; an experience a little back in time. We were all so pleased and our Rotarian friends said it was a first time experience for them too.

What a fun event this looks to be, and I'm glad that such an unplanned activity welcomed you as guests. What nice people the Thai are.

How exciting to stumble on this engagement/wedding event and be invited to join in the experience. What a lovely couple--all dressed in their Thai finery! I again enlarged the photos by double clicking on them, and was treated to the photo of the dancers and their graceful hand positions. I see all of you had a chance to learn some hand movements in the other photo! Can hardly wait for you to share them with us! -Ruby
